Request for Improved Istanbul Airport Scenery and Terrain Elevation

  • Istanbul Airport currently presents significant challenges in the simulator due to an unrealistic and exaggerated slope of the terrain, making it nearly unplayable. In reality, the airport is predominantly flat, with only minor elevation differences - for example, taxiway B under the runways is slightly lower.

Given Istanbul Airport’s importance as a major international hub, serving numerous destinations and featuring multiple Turkish Airlines liveries in the simulator, it is unfortunate that the current experience does not accurately reflect its actual layout.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide improved scenery for Istanbul Airport, ideally including accurate photo scenery or at least corrected terrain elevation around the airport to better represent the real-world flatness. Additionally, adding detailed scenery of the city center would enhance the experience, as the approach is quite scenic in my opinion.

Also, the terminal looks oddly cut off, probably due to elevation problems.

Imagine how much more enjoyable and immersive flying into Istanbul would be...

Thank you for considering this enhancement.

  • I use FS 4 in the STEAM beta version 4.07.01.08 (20250505) on a Mac. LTFM has only slight height differences there and I don't see a cut-off terminal there either.

Please write which version you are using on which device and attach some screenshots of the most striking places.

  • Hello,

thank you for your response. I’m using the Mac App Store version 4.7.1.

    Please find attached my screenshots.

    They show multiple angles:

    • On the south side, the terminal is partially buried under the terrain, while on the north side it sticks out above the ground (highlighted with red markings showing the visible gap).
    • The slope is significantly worse when taxiing from south to north - you have to constantly brake, and within seconds you can easily reach 50 knots. It’s technically usable, but not really practical for normal operation.

I hope the pictures help illustrate the issue.

    Best regards,

    geogio.
