Scenery Lofoten

    Hi, Everyone,

    I am new to the forum and also Aerofly. Having a slight problem with the scenery

    I have installed all the files and the mesh files. I also installed the Lofoten Extended files as per instructions.

    When I start my flight from any airport I get columns of scenery from the ground to the sky.

    Once passed the airports the scenery is ok.

    Can anyone help with this. Maybe something is in the wrong directory?

    Hi Slotman - and welcome.

    Are there any errors in the actual photo of the ground - or is it terrain, buildings, forests, etc. flying in the clouds?

    Do you have a screenshot showing the error?


    Here's some advice:


    IPACS recommends that we do NOT place user addons in the official folder of the Aerofly FS2 (Steam folder). Because it can create clutter - and in addition, the folder structure can be changed in a later update.


    If we want to install user addons in a location other than the C disk - for me - the following works smoothly (PC):


    First I choose my big disk (D, E, F, etc.).


    Then I create a folder for Aerofly FS2 freeware addons: D:\AFS2_addons\


    Then I open the file "main.mcf" - and type in where AFS2 can find the new folder:


    <[string8][extra_user_folder][d:\AFS2_addons]>


    Then I copy / move the files (images, cultivaton, elevation, etc.) to their respective folders:


    D:\AFS2_addon\scenery


    ....................................\scenery\elevation (mesh)


    ....................................\scenery\images (contains ortho photo / google-bing, etc.)


    ....................................\scenery\places (contains airports, cultivaton, etc.).

    For Project Lofoten use Scandinavia West 19m freeware mesh made by Taburet.

    Thanks for your response to my dilemma.

    The terrain is only on the Airport,all other scenery once you leave the Airport itself is perfect.

    I will try your suggestions and see how we go.

    I also tried Leeds airport and this is just the same.

    I might try a new clean install and see if that sheds any light.

    I did a bit of playing about with the file locations to make sure everything was in the correct place.

    I also did a clean install and started again from scratch.

    After all this it is the Lofoten Airports that are the problem. Once these are deleted the terrain is ok.

    I put them back in and the terrain shot up into the sky at all airports.

    I don't know what is causing this to happen, but I will do some more testing.

    Do not install any cultivations (and airports) from Hartman's .zip files.

    Done everything you said but don't quite understand what I suppose to

    do with regards the main.mcf file. I can't find the <[string8][extra_user_folder][ in that

    file to write a path to my drive. Im using Notepad plus,plus. Can you tell me what line its on.

    Thanks for your input. I played around with the files and checked all the install directories

    and I now have it working ok. Don,t know what I did but I will investigate further.

    I have made a backup copy so I don,t loose anything. I must have done something wrong somewhere,

    but I will solve it.
