How can I help making Norwegian scenery ?

  • I've seen the Lofoten project, and it looks very promising! Awesome Hartman :)

I wonder what it'd take to create more of Norway and what or how I can help. I have a powerful PC (see specs below) and it's basically idling these days because I'm away at work all day and after work it's time for wife, kids, dinner etc and I'm not getting any time with the PC except for weekends.

If there's a big batch of things that could process while I'm not at my PC, I'd be happy to contribute to make this sim even more interesting for those of us who enjoy flying VFR in Norway. :)

    My specs

    Threadripper 2920x (12 cores/24 threads)

    128 GB RAM

    RTX 2080 Ti

It should be able to crunch some data. :)

  • Hi OlaHaldor - and welcome.

Glad you like the Lofoten Project. I also enjoy flying over Norway - with its special topography.

The major challenge is satisfactory photo. Often you have to use a combination from several sources. Then you have to edit the photos in Photoshop, Gimp, or similar (I use Photoshop).

    Here is an example:

When the photos are ready - you convert them through AeroScenery - and they are ready for Aerofly.

I hope to be able to convert acceptable photos used in X-plane (then we avoid photo editing) :

If we figure out how to use these X-plane photos - maybe we can work together?

But at the end of last year (2019) I was unfortunately injured in my right shoulder. Therefore, it takes time with the last part of the Lofoten Project. I've finished 2 tiles - and I'm still slowly getting started with the last one.

Otherwise I have been contacted by a Norwegian guy - who has already made parts of Norway. I will try to help complete these areas. :)
